Sara Muhlbauer

Sara Muhlbauer is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Lakeland Care, Inc., responsible for the strategic direction, vision, growth, and performance of the organization.

She has held numerous titles since joining the Lakeland Care team in 2008. These include Care Management Supervisor, Network Relations Manager, Operations Project Director, and Chief Operations Officer. While in these positions she has led the Provider Network team and contracted providers through a new authorization and claims processing system, supported the conversion of Lakeland Care from a long-term care district to a private not for profit organization and led collaborative efforts with the Menominee Indian Tribe and the Oneida Nation into delivery of the Family Care program.

In her past experiences she assisted in the development of policy and practice to meet federal standards of care and assisted in the transition of residents into the community from institutional settings at the Fond du Lac County Health Care Center as well as facilitating the transition of staff from the county based legacy waiver program into the Family Care program with the Winnebago County Department of Human Services.

Sara is an external ambassador, collaborating with other businesses to support the mission and vision of the organization while supporting her community by serving as President of the Day by Day Shelter Board, Secretary of the Rotary Club of Oshkosh Board, and is an active member of the Envision Greater Fond du Lac, NEW Hmong Professionals and Wisconsin Association of Health Plan boards as well as the Wisconsin Long-Term Care Advisory Council. She is also a member of The Rotary Club of Oshkosh and a graduate of Leadership Oshkosh.

Sara is a true servant leader who leads with bravery by seeking to understand and acknowledges the talents and experiences of those around her. She also recognizes that being vulnerable is a strength.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband Scott and her two sons Chas, who loves soccer and golf and Gus, who loves Adaptive Sports League as well as their dog Bella who is a rescued bulldog mix.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration (B.A.), with an emphasis on human resources, from Ashford University in Clinton, IA, and a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.
