Lakeland Care Announces COVID Vaccine Requirement for All Employees

Unvaccinated employees have until March 31, 2022 to complete vaccination requirements

Fond du Lac, WI – (February 2, 2022) — As the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continues throughout the state of Wisconsin and the rest of the world, managed care organization (MCO), Lakeland Care, Inc. (LCI) is now mandating proof of full vaccination status as a condition of new and continued employment.  This announcement underlines LCI’s commitment to live by their organizational mission, vision and values while reducing the risk of spread throughout the communities in which they operate.

Sara Muhlbauer, Lakeland Care’s CEO stated, “LCI’s mission statement ‘Empowering Individuals. Strengthening Communities. Inspiring Futures.’ as well as our core values of kindness, inclusion and trust have guided the decision to require the COVID vaccine for all employees.  We cannot ignore the fact that vaccinations have proven to help reduce illness, hospitalization, and the severity of the disease including death.”  Muhlbauer added, “As an organization, we care for the most vulnerable members of our communities.  It is our responsibility and duty to come together for the greater good of society as a whole and we feel strongly that this encompasses mandating COVID vaccination”.

LCI, which is one of five managed care organizations in the state of Wisconsin, is the third to announce mandatory employee vaccination.  The organization’s decision to move forward with the requirement is based on policy guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and is designed to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.  The organization will offer a process for religious and medical exemptions but anticipates those exemptions to be a small number of employees.
